Next-Generation Communications for Industrial Wireless

The OpenSTX Foundation is an industry-wide initiative under the Linux Foundation, dedicated to standardizing Synchronous Transmission (STX) technology in wireless networks.

STX is a breakthrough approach in wireless communications where devices transmit simultaneously to provide time synchronization, enhanced robustness, and network-wide mobility. By harnessing this technique, OpenSTX aims to develop an open standard for STX-based protocols, ensuring that such systems can interoperate seamlessly across vendors and applications.

The foundation brings together experts from academia and industry to translate over a decade’s worth of research into a practical standard, complete with reference implementations and example applications. The result will be a robust, vendor-neutral specification that enables more reliable, secure, low-latency, and energy-efficient wireless networking for the Internet of Things (IoT), cyber-physical systems, and beyond.
